Looking to switch to Bank of America? Why? OK, fine, if you must, at least try getting a Bank of America $100 bonus deposit promotion when you open your account. They seem to be drying up quickly, but I found this $100 bonus still alive on the bank's web site. You may also be able to get a similar $100 bonus offer by visiting your local branch, especially if it is a new one.
Personally, I just switched from Bank of America to Chase, which I wrote about on Monday. So I can't exactly encourage you to switch to B of A, unless you're in an area where it makes the most sense -- if there are tons of branches and ATMs in your city. If that's the case, you might as well get a $100 bonus and other perks for making a switch you planned to do anyway.
Another great bank with good sign up promotions worth checking out is ING Direct, which I recently reviewed. Although I plan to use Chase for most of my everyday transactions from here on out, and plan to use their flashy "Preferred" reward points debit card as well, I still have a checking account and savings account at ING. The rates are good, it was nice to get a bonus when I signed up, and there are no sneaky maintenance fees or balance minimums.

What is your opinion of Charles Schwab as opposed to ING? I just moved my savings from the former to the latter and am wondering why one shouldn't. It seems brilliant. Many thanks!
